Cyrus

Cyrus is a restaurant located in Geyserville, California. It's situated on a winery surrounded by rolling hills and natural beauty. I first learned about this restaurant on a few forums while researching The French Laundry, and it sounded too amazing to miss while we were in the area. Cyrus is a one-star Michelin restaurant and offers a dining experience unlike any I've ever had. The evening begins in the Bubbles Lounge with canapés, followed by a visit to the kitchen for 8 courses while watching the chefs at work. The dining experience continues in the dining room with an additional 6 courses and dessert. The evening concludes with a visit to the chocolate room, where an 8-foot chocolate fountain awaits, along with hot chocolate and a chocolate bar to take home as a parting gift.

The Bubbles Lounge

In this room, we were given five canapés that ignite the different senses of flavors we enjoy- sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. My canapés were gluten-free, and slightly different than what my friends enjoyed, but I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything.

My favorite was the second canapé from the left, sour- green strawberry, yogurt, basil. It melted in your mouth and was so flavorful!

The Kitchen Table

This was one of the best experiences. With each course, we watched the kitchen work their magic, and the chef would come and talk about each course and explain the history and inspiration. They let you walk around the kitchen and talk to the cooks, and we were given a special tour of the pastry kitchen in the adjoining building (something that most people do not get to see). Everything we ate was so flavorful and delicious, with Asian-inspired flavors.

Our view while dining in the kitchen.
Billi Bi, Fennel Pollen- Think of the best cream of mussels soup you never imagined existed. It was elegant and bright.
White Asparagus, Ponzu, Candied Ginger
Blue Fin Tuna, Blood Orange, Sea Lettuce-Sansho Furikake
Uni, Pea and Fermented Carrot Tart
"Oreo" Foie Gras Torchon, Black Garlc, Rhubarb- I didn't want to enjoy this because of the animal lover in me, but it was delightful. The foie gras was rich and creamy, which paired perfectly with the flavor of the black garlic.
Artichoke, Sake Lees, Lettuce Puree
Chawanmushi, Blue Crab Fava Bean Fondue, Yuzu Foam- I could eat this soup every day!
A5 Wagyu, Yuzu Kosho- this beef was heaven on earth. It literally melted in your mouth.
Umeshu Consommé- I wish they had given us the option to take a gallon of this to go!

The Dining Room

Our view while in the dining room!
Hijiki Wrapped Black Cod, Ginger Shish Dashi
Butter Poached Lobster, Gochujang Américaine, Creamed Corn
Poussin, Miso Morels, Creamed Ramps and Fava Greens- This was the only dish we had that didn't wow us. It lacked depth of flavor, and felt like something you could make at home.
Brillat Savarin, Strawberry, Fennel Pollen Brioche- such a fun and delicious cheese course!
Black Lime Sorbet, Poached Aloe, Hearts of Palm- my version was gluten-free, but the regular version includes a layer of chocolate cake. The gluten-free version was amazing, so I can't imagine how delicious it was with the addition of cake.
The dining room ended with mignardises that touched on the five senses of taste again- sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. My favorite was sweet- Candied Strawberry and Sake Lees Mousse. The salty- Dark Chocolate Black Sesame Meltaway was also amazing!

The Chocolate Room

This was an enchanting room where chocolate aromas filled the air. The hot chocolate was rich and creamy, but not too heavy. We were given a parting gift of Sobacha and Golden Sesame Crunch Bar with Koji Caramel. We were instructed not to touch anything or we may turn into a blueberry.

A Dining Experience We Will Never Forget

I can't even begin to express how wonderfully enjoyable our experience at Cyrus was. The restaurant exceeded all my expectations, from the outstanding food to the relaxed and welcoming ambiance. Despite holding 1 Michelin Star, the atmosphere was one of warmth and comfort. The entire staff was not only professional and efficient but also genuinely pleasant and friendly, adding to the overall wonderful experience. We were amazed to learn that the front-of-house and kitchen staff were trained to work in both areas, which surely contributes to the seamless and well-coordinated service that we experienced. If you happen to be in the Napa Valley area, I absolutely urge you to take the drive to Geyserville and treat yourself to a dining experience at Cyrus. It's an experience that will stay with you long after the meal is over. The food was exceptional, the views stunning, and the overall experience truly magical!
